The Rochester Police Department would like to make all residents aware of an emerging crime pattern in the southeast portion of the city. There has been a sharp spike in the number of burglaries during the past few weeks, particularly in PSA’s 29 (North Winton Village and Browncroft), 31 and 32.

Recent Car Break-Ins

Update 9/1/2013

An arrest has been made in the recent burglaries in North Winton Village. The suspect was arrested in possession of stolen goods soon after robbing a local home.

Over the past week there have been multiple car break-ins on Mayfield St., Marsden Rd. and other neighborhood streets. The thefts have occurred in residents’ driveways and on the street in front of their homes. Some incidents have involved broken windows, and among the items stolen were iPods, cell phones, chargers, and laptops.

Please remember to lock your car doors, hide or remove valuable items, and report anything that looks suspicious to the police.

Safety Committee Meetings Begin June 27, 2013

North Winton Village Safety Committee meetings will take place the last Thursday of the month. Rochester police have agreed to attend and present their weekly report to the community.

First meeting:

Neighborhood Safety Center

Please bring any concerns you have regarding safety and code violations.

Future meetings this summer: July 25, August 29.

Meeting: East High School and Neighborhood Safety

Please attend an important meeting with the Rochester City School District and the RPD to discuss children coming and going in and out of East High School during the day. It is a closed campus. Also to be discussed is the use of drugs on corners and behind business and houses.

We will request the school district and police department do all they can to keep the area a safe and a drug free zone.
