Do The Right Thing – Family Safety Day

Do the Right Thing of Rochester Inc., a program of the Rochester Police Department, invites the community to its free Family Safety Day event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday May 19th , 2012 featuring a bike rodeo, free bike and car seat inspections, seatbelt and texting crash simulators, fire safety, crime prevention and first aid tips.

The event will be in the parking lot at the corner of Court Street and Exchange Blvd. in Rochester, NY. directly across the street from the Public Safety Building located at 185 Exchange Blvd.

This event is free and open to the public.

Over 100 Bonsai will be on exhibit from 3 feet tall to Shohin Bonsai that
are only 6 inches tall. Come join the Bonsai Society not only to see the beautiful Bonsai on display, but to browse our large sales area and to take home a finished Bonsai or a starter tree and do it yourself. Bonsai is the Japanese art of growing miniature trees and shrubs in shallow containers. The exhibit is of living Bonsai, designed, created, and cultivated by members
of Bonsai societies, locally and nationally.

Via a recent public safety meeting, with thanks to Denise Speicher:

Officer Garth Mitchell reported one burglary on March 21, 2012 in our neighborhood, at last week’s Safety Center meeting. It was on Kansas Street. Entry was through an open window. Two guns were stolen; a shotgun and a muzzle loader. Today, he reported there have been no more burglaries since then.

Our Southeast Quadrant Service Center RPD Officers are offering free Home Security Checks to anyone that wishes one. Call 428-7641 to make an appointment.
