To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiographical novel was translated to film in 1962 by Horton Foote and the producer/director team of Robert Mulligan and Alan J. Pakula. Set in a small Alabama town in the 1930’s, the story focuses on scru-pulously honest, highly respected lawyer Atticus Finch, magnificently embodied by Gregory Peck. Finch puts his career on the line when he agrees to represent Tom Robinson (Brock Peters), a black manaccused of rape. Popcorn will be provided, but feel free to bring your own snack and non-alcoholic beverage. 1962; Rated NR; 129 minutes.

Monroe County Libraries will be closed on Friday, July 4, in celebration of the holiday.
